UNL Hyde Lecture Series: Michael Grove

  • University of Nebraska Richards Hall Room 15 Lincoln, NE (map)

Join us for the UNL Hyde Lecture Series presentation with Michael Grove!

For this lecture, Grove expounds the virtues of working with a global lens and perspective. Historically, landscape architecture has suffered from a predominantly parochial viewpoint. While a hyper-local perspective is critical, it is equally important to recognize that societal issues are interrelated, interdependent and international. From climate change and biodiversity loss to inequity and environmental justice, these challenges speak to a shared humanity and are global in scale - just as this profession should be.

Working globally isn’t glamorous, it’s necessary.
— Michael Grove

Grove is chair of landscape architecture, civil engineering and ecology at SASAKI, a global design firm with offices in Boston, Denver, New York, Los Angeles and Shanghai. Leading Sasaki’s international work, Grove offers insight into the environmental and social impacts of urbanization around the world and is a fierce advocate for the vital role that landscape architects play in shaping contemporary cities.
