Join NDC ASLA in supporting Ernest H. Herminghaus’ nomination to the Nebraska Hall of Fame (NHF) at the NHF Commission Public Hearing in Omaha. If you plan on attending, please reach out to us at ndcasla.info@gmail.com and let us know at which hearing you will be showing your support.
NDC ASLA member Richard Sutton, has been working with former State Senator Bob Wickersham and Mr. Robert Ripley on the nomination of Ernst H. Herminghaus to the Nebraska Hall of Fame.
This summer, the NHF Commission will hold public hearings in each of the three congressional districts to consider this cycle's nominations. The hearing for Congressional District 2 will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 6:00-8:00PM at the Revive Center, 2402 Lizzie Robinson Avenue, Omaha, NE. At these hearings we will have the opportunity to deliver a ten-minute presentation in support of Herminghhaus' nomination. Following these hearings, the NHF Commission will meet to narrow down the finalists and select the winner.
Herminghaus' nomination raises the visibility of our profession and if he were to be selected for inclusion to the Nebraska Hall of Fame it would be outstanding. We need your help by attending the Lincoln hearing to show support for his nomination.
See the attached an article about Herminghaus' life and work that supports its importance to Landscape Architecture and indeed, all Nebraskans. Since that 1985 article, Pioneers Park, the Nebraska State Capitol Grounds, and Woodsshire Subdivision have all been placed on the National Registry of Historical Places. Additionally in 1999 ASLA acknowledged Pioneers Park as one of only 362 Centennial Medallion sites.
