When did you realize you wanted to become a Landscape Architect?
I previously attended school somewhere else prior to NDSU for two years. After coming to the conclusion that was no longer where I wanted to be and a little soul searching, it was recommended for me to look into Landscape Architecture. Once realizing the profession combined my two favorite things, art and plants/nature, I knew it was for me.
What is your favorite landscape and why?
At the moment, I really like Klyde Warren Park. I really appreciate the greater impact it has had on the city itself but I also admire the endless programmed spaces within the simplistic design and shapes.
I am a member of ASLA because they provide continuous opportunities to engage with professionals, create networks, and continuously learn.
What is the most important thing you have learned since joining the profession?
Though I am not in the profession yet, the most important thing I have learned from my time in school would be to be confident in your design and continue to push yourself.
What is one item you cannot live without?
Probably my phone...so millennial of me, I know.
What do you believe needs to be the next area of innovation in our profession?
I think the next big thing in our profession will be technological advancements, whether that is rendering software or 3D building. I think these advancements will either make or break the profession.

What is something you find joy in other than landscape architecture?
I enjoy listening to live bands at a brewery with friends, anything in the water, slack-lining, and art. I am a member of an artist co-op in my hometown.
